QE’s market capitalisation falls by 1.32pc

1DOHA: The main index of Qatar Exchange lost 124.26 points or 1.45 percent last week to close at 8,448.49 points. Of the 42 listed companies, 36 fell last week and six companies ended higher.

Trading value during the week increased by 0.43 percent to reach QR709m compared to QR706m the previous week. Trading volume decreased by 0.06 percent to reach 14,961,659 shares, as against 14,969,954 shares the previous week. The number of transactions rose by 13.13 percent to reach 12,147 last week as compared to 10,737 at the end of previous week.
Market capitalisation fell by 1.32 percent to reach QR460bn last week as compared to QR466bn.
The banking and financial services sector led trading value last week, accounting for 42.4 percent of the total, followed by industrial sector (19.08 percent) and the consumer goods and services (18.47 percent).
In terms of trading volume, again the banking and financial services sector led the drive (39.63 percent) followed by the consumer goods and services sector accounted (16.28 percent). The transportation sector accounted for 14.89 percent of the total traded volume last week. 
The sector led trading number of transactions too last week, accounting for 33.27 percent of the total, followed by the consumer goods and services sector (21.33 percent), the industrial sector (16.46 percent) and the transportation sector (13.49 percent).
Industries Qatar led trading value last week at 12.96 percent followed by Qatar Meat & Livestock Trading (12.03 percent) and QNB (11.37 percent).
As for yesterday, the bourse was down by 17.57 points or 0.21 percent to 8,448.49 points from the previous closing of 8,466.06 points. All the sector indices slipped into red.
Among the top losers were Al Ahli Bank whose share dropped 5.92 percent to QR54, Qatar German for Medical Devices lost 2.93 percent to QR14.30 and Mannai Corporation lost 2.15 percent to QR93. Vodafone Qatar fell 1.78 percent to QR8.82 and Qatar Navigation was down 0.94 percent to QR63.40.
The consumer goods and services sector shed 31.83 points. The industrial sector was down 8.32 points. The banking and financial sector dropped 5.92 points while the insurance sector lost 1.59 points.
