Kuala Lumpur: Official talks were held on Monday between the Qatar led by the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Malaysia led by Prime Minister Mohammad Najib Tun Abdul Razzak at the Prime Minister's office in Kuala Lumpur.
During the talks, the Emir and the Malaysian Prime Minister discussed bilateral relations and ways of supporting and developing them in various fields so as to push them forward to a wider strategic level.
The areas of cooperation which were discussed and reviewed during the session included economy, trade exchange, investment opportunities and human and social development, especially education, in order to serve the common interests of the two countries and for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples.

The talks also tackled a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest, especially means to enhance joint cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
The session was attended by the members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir, while on the Malaysian side, it was attended by a number ministers.
On Monday morning the Emir was accorded an official reception ceremony at the Parliament House in Malaysia on the occasion of his state visit.
King Sultan Muhammad V of Malaysia and Prime Minister of Malaysia Mohammad Najib Tun Abdul Razzak led well-wishers to welcome the Emir on arrival at the headquarters of the Parliament House.
The ceremony started with both Qatari and Malaysian national anthems before the Emir reviewed the Guard of Honor. A 21-gunshot salute was also fired during the ceremony.
The Emir then met with Malaysian official delegation and senior officials and heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to Malaysia.
King of Malaysia and the Malaysian Prime Minister met the Qatari delegation.
