The Junior school quadrangle of DPS - MIS came alive recently with the hustle and bustle of a “Kiddies Fruit and Veggies Market” arranged for the tiny tots of Class-I by their teachers. There were quite a number of little vendors in the market, selling a wide variety of fruits and vegetables in lovely baskets, each item tagged with its prize.
The market was inaugurated by the Principal and the Vice Principals of the school and to welcome them were ‘live vegetables and fruits’-kids dressed up as oranges, mangoes, eggplants, grapes and capsicums ,each one talking out about their food value. The whole market was vibrant with music and that too with songs of vegetables and fruits. There was integration of fun, frolic, dance, songs, math, science, language, art, craft and values. The little ones were found selecting things, enquiring about the prize, paying paper money and buying things of good food value. The picturesque background of the market decorated with charts of vegetable printing, cereals and pulses collage, vegetable carving and worthy quotations made it all the more ambient.
Children learned through their senses-taking in through sight, smell, sound, texture and tastes of the market. And finally the children found their love for fruits and vegetables. The Peninsula
