Al Malki wins Radisson Blu–Olympic Sport Squash men’s professional title

Doha: Qatar’s Abdulrahman Al Malki won the Men’s Professional title at the 12th Radisson Blu–Olympic Sport Squash Championship at Radisson Blu Hotel on Saturday.

In the closely contested final Al Malki got the better of Kim Killingbery, winning the match in three games to one. 

Meanwhile, Mohammed Tarek, Wahid Zaman, Hammad Al Amry, Umair Zaman, Andrew Willmot, Umair Zaman, Azlan Amjad, and Abdulrahman Al Malki won titles in the Boys’s Under-9, Boy’s Under-11, Boy’s Under-13, Boys Under 17, Men’s over-45, Men’s Level B and Men’s Level A category respectively.

The tournament sponsored by Radisson Blu and Olympic Sport was organised under the patronage of Qatar Squash Federation (QSF).

Mohammed Al Khulaifi, QSF Board Member was the chief guest and gave away the prizes; also present was Ahmed Sami, Manager of Cabana Club.

Al Khulafi said he was happy to see many new players take part in the tournament.

“I am delighted that the number of local players taking part in local tournaments is increasing every year. 

Squash game is becoming more popular among the Qatari youth. The tournament served as a good exposure to the national team players.”

QSF Technical Secretary, Gamal Rasmi welcomed the gathering and thanked Radisson Blue and Olympic Sport for their continuous support for squash.

Around 100 players contested in eight different categories in the six-day tournament which began on October 8.

The winners and runners-up in each of the eight categories were given gift vouchers from Radisson Blu and Olympic Sport.  Besides the Radisson Blu-Olympic Sport Squash championship, Barwa Bank Championship and InterContinental Squash are the other local squash events hosted by QSF.

Men’s Level A: Azlan Amjad bt Ahmed Eid 3-0
