Baghdad: Iraqi authorities announced on Saturday that a group of ISIS militants were killed in two airstrikes in the north of the country.
In a statement, the Iraqi Joint Operations Command said the first strike came after several days of intelligence surveillance, targeting a key ISIS gathering in Wadi al-Shay, east of Salah al-Din Governorate. The airstrike, carried out by fighter jets, destroyed the site and killed a number of militants inside.
The statement added that the air force later struck another gathering within Kirkuk operations sector with equal precision, killing additional ISIS elements.
Iraq's security forces continue to pursue remnants of the organization, periodically targeting its militant gatherings, particularly in the north and west of the country.
