PARIS, France: Edinson Cavani was in Paris yesterday to finalise his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, with sources close to the deal saying his €64m ($84m) price tag would break the French record.

The 26-year-old Napoli forward, who was Serie A top scorer last season with 29 goals, landed in Paris yesterday morning before heading to a top city hotel to undergo a medical.

PSG later announced they would hold a press conference at 4pm local time (1400 GMT) today, suggesting the medical had been passed and a contract could now be signed today.

Cavani is expected to sign a five-year deal, according to PSG sources.

Late morning, outgoing PSG sporting director Leonardo was seen leaving the luxury hotel with an advisor of the Uruguay player, who is nicknamed “The Matador”. AFP
