Qatar Football Association President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani participated in the inauguration of the Pele Stadium in Bethlehem Governorate in Palestine at the invitation of the Palestinian Minister of Sports and President of Palestinian Football Association Lieutenant General H E Jibril Rajoub.
The opening ceremony of Pele Stadium, which coincides with the anniversary of Nakba Day, was also attended by President of the Jordan Football Association and President of the West Asian Federation Prince Ali bin Al Hussein and the Vice President of the Arab Football Association and member of the FIFA Council Hani Abu Raida.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Palestine H E Mohamad Shtayyeh met with Sheikh Hamad. During the meeting, they discussed issues of common interest and ways to enhance them between the two sides in various football-related matters in light of the distinguished relations between Qatar and Palestine.
On behalf of President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, Prime Minister Shtayyeh bestowed the Grand Star of the Order of Jerusalem on the QFA President in appreciation of his sporting career "full of giving and various achievements, as well as his efforts to strengthen Qatari-Palestinian fraternal relations".
