MoI to observe Arab Human Rights Day

DOHA: The Ministry of Interior will observe Arab Human Rights Day tomorrow under the theme ‘Dialogue and tolerance to promote and protect human rights’.

Director of Human Rights Department at the ministry, Colonel Abdulla Saqr Al Muhannadi highlighted the ministry’s contributions to joint Arab work within the Arab League’s framework for human rights. 

The ministry will contribute to preparation of draft laws and Arab human rights conventions.

This year’s theme has been chosen by the League’s general secretariat and Arab Commission for Human Rights.

Head of research and development section at the department, Major Saad Salem Al Dosari, said a preparatory committee of officials from Community Police of the Department of North Security, Women’s Affairs Committee, Public Relations Department and other departments, has been set up.

Activities include lectures on ‘Dialogue and Tolerance’. 

Tomorrow, Community Police and  Human Rights Department officials will visit the industrial zone in Ras Laffan for a seminar to highlight how Qatar cares for expatriate workers, their identity and cultural and religious rights.

A scholarly forum on ‘Culture of dialogue and tolerance’ is a support to security and strength for social peace’ will be held in the main hall of the Criminal Investigation Department on Tuesday.
