Doha, Qatar: Cultural Village Foundation- Katara unveiled the 4th edition of its International Exhibition for Kahraman (amber) at Building 12 in the village.
This year the participation of the exhibitors has expanded to 70 pavilions, up from last year’s 50, indicating growing participation.
Katara General Manager Prof Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti highlighted the exhibition’s significance since its inception in 2019.
It stands as Qatar’s premier event exclusively dedicated to amber and is the world’s second-largest international exhibition in this field, following Poland’s.
“Since its launch in 2019, the exhibition has maintained its distinction as the first exhibition specialised in amber in Qatar, and the second largest international exhibition specialising in amber material.”
The strategic timing of this year’s launch during the AFC Asian Cup aims to draw a diverse audience, both domestic and international. The participating countries include Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Turkiye, China, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and the Dominican Republic.
Beyond being a spectacle, the exhibition offers Katara visitors an educational experience about Kahraman, exploring its journey from raw material to intricate accessories and home antiques. Given Qatar’s robust demand for Kahraman, the Qatari market stands out as one of the most significant in the region.
Showcasing a variety of amber-made products, from a ship named the ‘Black Pearl’ to animals like horses, tigers, and falcons, Kahraman Islamic prayer beads as well as intricate subha collections, the exhibition captivates with diverse craftsmanship.
Katara’s commitment to amber extends beyond exhibitions, with a dedicated permanent headquarters and the ongoing training workshops supervised by international experts opened in 2020. A quality examination laboratory, in collaboration with international amber institutions, ensures stringent quality standards.
The Katara International Exhibition for Kahraman remains Qatar’s primary showcase for amber, solidifying its status as the world’s second-largest event in this specialised domain after Poland’s renowned exhibition.
