Grenadian Prime Minister Keith Mitchell met with H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, Cultural Adviser at the Emiri Diwan and Qatar's candidate for the post of director-general at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) as part of the candidate's plans to visit several countries, including the Caribbean and South American countries.
Al Kawairi presented his electoral programme under the theme "Towards a New Start for Unesco", his vision for the development of the organisation, while valued the support of the Caribbean countries.
Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Keith Rowley met with the Qatari candidate in the capital, Port of Spain, where he thoroughly explained his vision for the position.
The prime minister expressed his admiration for the State of Qatar and his eagerness to develop relations between both nations in investment, tourism and education and expressed his interest to know more about Qatar's development. He also confirmed the support of the Caribbean countries to the Qatari candidate concluding that Al Kuwari is eligible for the position due to his expertise.
The meeting was attended by Trinidad and Tobago's Minister of Foreign Affairs Dennis Moses.
