Doha: Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) is participating in the 4th edition of Dawn Challenge to be held in Katara on December 17.
QCS Business Development Department Acting Head, Zakaria Karazon said: “We are proud of the efforts of the various institutions in Qatar in promoting the awareness efforts of the Society, as it is one of the institutions that aim to improve the healthy life of the Qatari community, especially in light of the large spread of the disease, whose burdens can be reduced.”
Several prominent sports personalities will participate, led by cyclist Abdullah Al Hammadi and traveler Ali bin Towar Al Kuwari. Dawn Challenge is aimed to raise public awareness of men’s health and awareness of prostate cancer, prevention, and early detection, especially as it is the second most common type of cancer in Qatar among males of all nationalities, based on Qatar National Cancer Registry - Ministry of Public Health 2016.
Registration will be via https://app.qasportsforall.com/event/ZDOlUn until December 16, and the participation fee for the Challenge, which is QR100 will be allocated for Qatar Cancer Society. It will be held in three categories, 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km.
For her part, QCS Health Education Department Head, Hiba Nassar said: “The charity has developed a comprehensive educational plan aimed to raise community awareness of the disease in partnership with many institutions in the state through awareness campaigns via electronic platforms and all available media platforms by publishing awareness messages and videos, as well as holding many virtual awareness workshops, In addition to direct attendance, taking into account the preventive measures for the spread of COVID-19, as well as providing an awareness workshop for QCS employees through “Your Health is in Your Hands” program, about prostate cancer awareness.”
