Doha: Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee in the US Senator Lindsey Graham called for a speedy solution to the current Gulf crisis, adding this crisis must be brought to an end, and focus on the path to the future.

During a discussion session yesterday within the work of the Doha Forum, Graham stressed the US's interest and proximity to Middle East issues, warning of the threat in the region, including violence, terrorism and ongoing wars in some areas.

Senator Graham noted the military cooperation between the US and Qatar, including its hosting of the American base, indicating that the US soldiers are participating in the stability and security of this important region of the world.

On the crisis with Iran, Graham said that the players in the Middle East region must play a role in bringing the points of view between the conflicting parties together to solve the region's problems. It is necessary to sit down and negotiate with Iran to solve the worsening problems, he added.

Washington does not want an armed conflict with Iran or North Korea, but their programmes must be dealt with in a more acceptable way in the region, he stressed.

On the US aid to Lebanon, Graham said that his country is interested in returning aid to the Lebanese army, because it is an ally of the US, adding it was a mistake to stop aid for the army there.

During the session, Graham touched on many issues of the Middle East region and the world. He also talked about American domestic affairs, including the current issue related to the attempt to impeach US President Donald Trump.
