Doha: Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), has received a delegation from the Al Markhiya Sports Club, which honored QRCS for its contributions to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) control efforts, in cooperation with other government organizations and NGOs.
The club’s delegation consisted of Ali Hamad Al Mseifri, Chairman, and Saleh Fadl Al Kaabi, Vice-Chairman. The meeting was attended by Yousef Mohamed Al Awadi, Director of Resource Mobilization, Dr. Mohamed Jassim Al Muslimani, Director of Compliance and Risk Management, Dr. Fawzi Oussedik, Head of International Relations, and Abdul-Rahman Al Zini, Head of Marketing.
In his remarks, Al Mseifri said, “As sports clubs, we recognize the great work done by QRCS in the face of COVID-19. Even though QRCS is centered mainly around volunteerism, its response to the crisis proved uniquely proficient and professional. We wish that cooperation will be established soon between QRCS and the Al Markhiya SC. We are here to present a symbolic honoring gift to QRCS, in expression of our utmost appreciation for their notable efforts”.
Al Hammadi welcomed joint work with the Al Markhiya and other sports clubs in relation to community service. He said, “QRCS is a local humanitarian organization with an international mandate, as part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, serving as the humanitarian arm of the country and part of its soft power”.
“QRCS’s active engagement in the government’s fight against the virus is part of our national and humanitarian responsibilities,” Al Hammadi added. “We would like to thank our brothers from the Al Markhiya SC for this nice gesture”.
