PRAGUE: A woman stabbed a student to death and wounded two girls and a police negotiator in a rampage at a secondary school in the Czech Republic yesterday, according to police.
“A 16-year-old boy died from his injuries despite all efforts by emergency services,” police spokeswoman Jana Kroutilova said. “The police detained a 26-year-old woman from the (eastern) Ostrava region,” she said after the attack in the town of Zdar nad Sazavou, about 120km southeast of Prague.
The motive was not immediately clear, police said. According to Czech media, the woman had attacked a girl at the school, then killed the boy who came to help her.
She let doctors treat the injured girl while taking another as a hostage, and before being immobilised with an electric taser, she injured the hostage and a police negotiator.
