DOHA: Over 25,000 visitors are expected to throng Souq Waqif daily to witness various shows during the Eid Al Adha Festival which starts tomorrow.
Leading the five-day festival is the first-of-its-kind Snow White Show which will be held at Al Rayyan Theatre.
Two shows will be held daily, one from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and another from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. Tickets are priced at QR40 and QR60. Other shows from 4pm to 9pm are free to the public and will be held in various locations in the souq. The show opposite Souq Waqif Police Station will feature Magician on a Stick, Bjorn the Polar Bear, Titan the Robot, Balloonatic and Coulourful Parade.
In front of Mirqab Boutique Hotel, people can watch Dave the Chameleon, while a Trampoline show will be held in the area adjacent to Al Ahmad Square.
An outdoor theatre has been erected for the festival and will feature Circus: Mother Africa, Ian Marchant and Live Statues, among others. A competition will also be held at Al Ahmad Square.
The festival is one of many events to promote the souq as a major tourism destination.
“We have a tourism promotion programme aimed at attracting visitors to Souq Waqif, making it one of the preferred tourism destinations in Doha,” said Mohammad Al Salim, Director of Souq Waqif.
