Doha: Talented Qatari athlete Yaser Salem yesterday claimed silver medal in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase at the Asian Athletics Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 25-year-old clocked 8:39.17s to finish behind the gold-medal winner Ryoma Aoki of Japan (8:34.91s). Another Japanese athlete Seiya Sunada claimed bronze medal with a time of 8:39.17s.
Salem had also won 3,000m steeplechase silver in the previous edition of the championships held in Bhubaneswar, India, in 2017.
Meanwhile, another Al Annabi athlete Adam Musaab secured fifth position in the same event yesterday after finishing the race in 8:53.71.
