QE index rises past 10,800 points on strong buying

Doha: Shares in the local bourse witnessed a bullish trend yesterday with the Qatar Stock Exchange (QE) index surging past 10,800-points level driven by strong buying interest from institutional and individual investors. The QE index closed at 10,811.23 points, gaining 71.75 points or 0.67 percent, yesterday. 

QE index is witnessing the rising trend since June 8 and the index has surged around 145 points in the past five trading sessions. The index had closed at 10,666 points on June 8.

Among the top gainers in yesterday’s trade, Qatar Cinema & Film Distributing shares increased around 2.5 percent, Industries Qatar’s shares increased 2 percent while Mannai Corporation shares gained around 1.6 percent.

Shares of Qatar International Islamic Bank increased 1.4 percent while Commercial Bank’s shares gained around 1 percent.

Inma Holding, Qatar German for Medical Devices and Dlala Brokerage & Investment Holding were among the top losers that lost around 1 percent, in yesterday’s trade. The volume of shares traded reached 134.7 million yesterday from 178.11 from Sunday and the value of shares increased to QR406.13m yesterday from QR378.21m on Sunday.

Indices of seven sectors ended in green zone yesterday. QSE Total Return Index gained 0.67 percent to 21,401.48 points and QSE Al Rayan Islamic index added 0.43 percent to 4,610.95 points. QSE All Share Index up 0.66 percent to 3,436.54 points.
