Doha: Chair of the National Strategy Group of COVID-19 and Head of Infectious Diseases at Hamad Medical Corporation, Dr. Abdullatif Al Khal said that the Ministry of Public Health conducted a community tracking and tracing survey at three health centers on May 6 and 7.

Addressing a press conference on Qatar TV on Thursday, Dr. Al Khal said that the survey found 156 positive cases of coronavirus which are about 11.9 percent of total 1,308 people who were included in the survey.

As part of the survey 1,035 males and 273 females were tested.

567 people were screened at Al Thumama Health Center, 441 people at Al Waab Health Center and 300 people were tested at Leabaib Health Center.

The aim of this exercise was to conduct a community survey and gain more insight into community transmission and asymptomatic cases, which will in turn inform policy decisions.

Participants of the survey were randomly selected based on age, gender and ethnicity and participation was voluntary.
