Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has launched an initiative in Qatar to create educational opportunities for 500 expatriate students who are unable to go to school due to financial problems.
“The phase-1 of the initiative 'Allimhum' (teach them) costs QR4m,” said Dr Mohamad Salah Ibrahim, Deputy Director General of RAF.
The project is financed by citizens and expatriates in Qatar with major donations from Ezdan Mall and the Pakistan expatriate community.
“The project aims at enrolling 500 expatriate students who delayed in schooling due to financial problems,” said Ibrhaim.
Phase-I project will focus on students who are lagging behind by one year from their age of schooling.
According to a survey conducted by RAF in collaboration with Ezdan Mall and Pakistan Expatriate Community, creating educational opportunity for a student for a year costs QR7,200.
The beneficiary students will be rehabilitated to get ready for enrolling in the classes as per their ages and they will be followed up throughout the year.
“The registration has started, an official from RAF told The Peninsula. To benefit from the project, the candidates can apply at a social service unit at RAF’s branch in Al Duhail.
