Officials, QU faculty and school teachers at the Forum.
The National Center for Educational Development (NCED) at Qatar University College of Education (QU-CED) held the 3rd Forum of Qatar University ExxonMobil Teachers Academy (QUEMTA) on May 11 at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel.
Organised in collaboration with ExxonMobil Qatar, the event was attended by CED Dean Dr Ahmed Al Emadi, NCED Director Dr Abdullah M Abu-Tineh, ExxonMobil Qatar Limited Vice-President and Public and Government Director Saleh Al Mana, ExxonMobil Qatar Limited National Development Manager Abdullatif Al Naemi, and over 200 schools teachers from Qatar, as well as QU faculty and staff.
The programme agenda featured a presentation on QUEMTA, success stories of the academy, successful experiences for the development of the academy’s concepts, 5E’s concept-building session, and innovative applications in lesson analysis and 5E’s. The event also included the distribution of awards to academy teachers.
Commenting on the event, Dr Ahmed Al Emadi highlighted QUEMTA achievements in training teachers, which adds value to NCED’s success. He said: “Our collaboration with ExxonMobil Qatar Limited contributed to advancing the education sector in Qatar. Designed in line with ExxonMobil Teachers Academy in the US, QUEMTA is the first-of-its-kind beyond the US.”
Dr Abdullah M Abu Tineh said: “This event reflects the significant role of QUEMTA in training teachers and in serving as a bridge between various schools. It also focuses on many outcomes such as the design and the implementation of activities to promote education and identify the challenges that students face in order to overcome them. We would like to thank ExxonMobil Qatar Limited for its continuous support of the academy. At NCED, we look forward to applying the academy’s concepts in schools in Qatar.”
