DOHA: A total of 15,000 tickets were sold in the first week of sales for the first ever Disney On Ice show in Qatar, to be held from June 13 to 16 at Qatar National Convention Centre.

Thousands of people rushed to Virgin Megastore outlets in Doha and flooded the online ticketing website during the first week of ticket sales for the much anticipated extravaganza, “Disney On Ice celebrates 100 Years of Magic.”

“Since tickets went on sale last Monday, we have experienced record-breaking sales — clearly demonstrating the demand for high-quality events in Qatar such as Disney on Ice,” said Nassim Goraieb, the spokesperson of Virgin Megastores in Doha.

Goraieb added: “We have been looking forward to working alongside the Disney family for many months now, as they are without a doubt one of the most reputable companies in the world. The efforts that have been placed on behalf of the organisers, Sport and Entertainment Solutions, and the official partners, Qatar Tourism Authority, have been commendable and we look forward to joining them in future events.”

Event organiser Ali Haidary, Founder and CEO of Sport and Entertainment Solutions, said tickets in several categories, which went on sale as part of an early bird special offer, were snapped up first.

“We are absolutely delighted with the tremendous response from the public,” he said. “This spectacular event will undoubtedly entice and delight audience members of all ages.”

He added, “There are limited seats still available for various shows and we urge everyone to get in early. We don’t want anyone to miss out on experiencing what the whole world has seen for over 15 years.”

Coming to Doha for the first time, the Disney On Ice celebrates 100 Years of Magic tour brings to life 65 characters from 18 different Disney stories. The skating musical features exciting snippets from The Lion King, Mulan, Aladdin, Pinocchio, and many more Disney stories.

The tickets are priced at QR150, QR250 and QR350 for regular seats and QR500 for VIP seats, while VVIP (rink-side) tickets cost QR1,000.
