Doha: Qatar Scientific Club (QSC) launched its activities of the “Robots from Design to Programming” camp which started on Sunday and runs until March 16.

The camp focuses on robotics by teaching participants the steps of designing and implementing a robot according to the task and programmed for clear purpose. Participants will learn accompanying skills such as electronics and the space world through the scientific advanced dome, in addition to specialised motor skills provided by the QSC.

They will likewise learn leadership skills by dealing with the basic STEM pillars (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), in addition to raising the spirit of innate exploration through experimentation, analysis and conclusion. It also encourages them to think creative and innovative with the steps of the proper scientific method.

The activity targets age groups from 8 to 14 years of both genders in completely separate classrooms.

The participants are expected to obtain a scientific outcome that qualifies them to be able to design and assemble a robot and then program it to carry out specific tasks.

With the aim of empowering the youth and in line with the aspirations and objectives of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Scientific Club used a group of distinguished youth who have a scientific background that qualifies them to engage in the camp, in addition to the accredited trainers in the Scientific Club.
On the nature of the scientific topics that will be presented, Head of the Promising Innovator Center, Eng. Saleh Al Abdullah, said that the club is keen to develop new topics and tries to provide everything that is useful to the participants.

The topic for this year’s robotics from design to programming focuses on teaching the robotics system and its importance for future applications.

For his part, Head of the Technical Laboratories and Workshops, Ayoub Al Janahi, stated that the club provides all necessary tools and equipment needed for the workshops so that it will be focused on the practical side of the subject.

At the end of the camp, QSC will send the questionnaire for the participants and their parents to find out their opinions and determine the topics they would like the science club to present to their children.
