It is worth noting that QU improved a staggering 84 places in Engineering and Technology globally and now places among the top seven programmes in the Arab world. In Social Sciences and Management, QU improved 70 positions. The Environmental Science and Education programmes are both new entries in the QS rankings and are now placed among the four best in the Arab world.
In Citations per Paper, Engineering - Electrical & Electronic is the subject in which QU earned the highest score (94.7).
QS Spokesperson Jack Moran said, “The latest edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject indicates that Qatar University continues to make outstanding progress on the regional and global stage. With all but one of its previously-ranked programmes improving their year-on-year positions, and with several departments entering the rankings for the first time, the latest results of our independent performance evaluation shine a light on the rapidly-rising research impact, academic standing, and employability outcomes being achieved by its academic faculty.”
“All of the signs we observe this year suggest that many Qatar University’s programmes may find themselves among the global top-200 in future editions,” he added.
In 2017, QU released a five-year strategy for the years 2018-2022, which mapped out the routes to achieving continuing performance excellence and builds on key areas of education, research, institution, and engagement while considering the plans and aspirations of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Recently QU has boasted an ambitious research roadmap fielding national development priorities and many significant research successes with global significance. QU also encompasses an extensive portfolio of internationally-accredited colleges and programmes that attest to a high level of excellence and quality. The University maintains a close relationship between the public and private sectors and has launched many MoUs and collaborative agreements.
