Bangladesh Forum Qatar (BFQ), will organise ‘Bangladesh Festival Qatar 2019’ in cooperation with the Embassy of Bangladesh in Doha and the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh.
The seven-day event will begin from Tuesday, March 19, 2019. BFQ, a Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) registered business council and a non-profit organisation, consists of a diverse group of professionals and business people.
Bangladesh Festival Qatar 2019 will feature a number of events which include screening of Bengali movie, children’s art competition, art workshop, photography competition and exhibition, food festival and art exhibition over seven-day programme culminating to the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh which falls on March 26.
On March 19 and 20, screening of Bengali movie Aynabaji, a dark comedy about an obsessive actor, is set to enthrall the audience at Drama Theatre building No 16 at Katara. The participation in the event is by ticket which is priced between QR12 and QR20. There will be two shows per day; first at 4pm and second show starting at 7pm.
On March 22, art competition for children to be held at Bangladesh MHM School and College at Abu Hamour starting at 9am. The art competition will be held in three age group. On the same day in the afternoon, an art workshop for the adult will be conducted by renowned Bangladeshi artist, Kalidas Karmakar at Katara Art Studio at Katara.
On March 23, the formal opening ceremony of The Bangladesh Festival Qatar 2019 will be held at Building No.15 at Katara at 7pm that will be attended by dignitaries. The formal opening ceremony will follow the three-day art exhibition, photograph exhibition and food festival.
An array of Bangladeshi delicacies prepared by Bangladeshi women residing in Qatar will be showcased through the food festival that will be held on March 23 at the Open Arena near Building No.15.
From March 23 to 25, A three-day art exhibition, photography exhibition will be held. The most anticipated art exhibition will be hosted by Kalidas Karmakar and Mustafa Arshad. The photography exhibition on the theme of ‘through the lense: cultural heritage of Bangladesh and Qatar’ will be held at the open arena near Building No.15. The photographs which will be selected through photography competition will be presented at the photography exhibition. All events except the screening of movies are free of charge.
