A school-wide drive to collect, package, and distribute essential items for the crisis-hit region of Pakistan was held recently.
Doha: In support of the families affected by the Pakistan floods, Compass International School Doha recently held a school-wide drive to collect, package, and distribute clothes, food, and other essential items for the crisis-hit region.
The drive was organised by the ‘Friends of Compass’ parent group which has been a key contributor to many of Compass’ community outreach projects over the past number of years.
Speaking at the drive Tamara Bell, Head of Gharaffa Campus, said: “I would just like to thank our wonderful students and parents who have made an incredible contribution to those in need over the last number of days. The sense of togetherness within the Compass Community has been inspiring to see and I am grateful to our ‘Friends of Compass’ group for organising this drive.”
As part of Nord Anglia Education Compass students are encouraged to experience first-hand the challenges communities often face tackling issues and to understand how to influence and drive change as individuals and as part of bigger teams, too.
These experiences help students develop resilience, teamwork, and the creativity to think ‘outside of the box’ — important skills they’ll need in the future workplace. The school also encourages students to deliver meaningful change through local outreach activities, including the Share A Dream programme which teaches social responsibility through fund-raising and volunteering about issues that students truly care about.
Every year, NAE students support hundreds of local causes tackling the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
In the last year alone, Nord Anglia students volunteered over 50,000 hours for local community projects and raised nearly $800,000 for local charities.
