Kabul: Pakistani army fired about 60 rockets on Afghanistan’s Kunar Province during the past 24 hours, said Afghani officials yesterday.
Provincial police chief General Abdul Habib Syed Khel said the rockets were fired from the other side of Durand Line and landed in Shegal and Kadish districts.
The Pakistani military has been shelling eastern provinces of Afghanistan including Kunar and Nuristan during the recent years.
Cross-border shelling in eastern Kunar province continues despite the National Security Council (NSC) instructed the security institutions to take necessary actions to repel the cross-border incursions by Pakistan.
A National Security Council (NSC) is usually an executive branch governmental body responsible for coordinating policy on national security issues and advising chief executives on matters related to national security.
An NSC is often headed by a national security advisor and staffed with senior-level officials from military, diplomatic, intelligence, law enforcement and other governmental bodies.
The functions and responsibilities of an NSC at the strategic state level are different from those of the United Nations Security Council, which is more of a diplomatic forum.
