Doha: Qatar national team coach Jorge Fossati presented his resignation despite his team's 3-2 win over South Korea in a match held on Tuesday at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Al Sadd in the 8th Asian qualifying round for the 2018 FIFA World Cup to be held in Russia.

HE President of the Qatar Football Association Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani said that he was surprised by Fossati's decision who submitted his resignation after his team beat South Korea yesterday.

HE said that Fossati took the technical management of the team according to a specific task and played the role entrusted to him according to his abilities and capabilities which are known to everyone, pointing to his strong relationship with the Association during the previous years during which he worked with the national team and clubs.

HE President of the Qatar Football Association added that the executive office of the Association will decide on the resignation after talking to Fossati, indicating that the Spanish coach Felix Sanchez would take over if Fossati does not back down from his decision.
