Aspire Academy held a ceremony to celebrate the end of season for its Talent Identification (TID) programme, the body responsible for spotting students with exceptional athletic talent and offering them a student-athlete scholarship to join Aspire Academy.

The TID programme is overseen by Aspire’s coaches and sports scientists, and works in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, as well as local independent and private schools. Representatives from 14 schools, were honoured at the ceremony in recognition of their support and contribution to this year’s successful conclusion.

Some of Aspire Academy’s senior officials taking part in the awarding ceremony included: Ali Al Hitmi, Secretary-General of the Qatar School Sport Association (QSSA), Badr Al Hay, Director of Education and Student Care, Jassem Al Jaber, Aspire Academy’s School Principal and Saleh Mohammed Al Marri, Talent Identification Programme’s Senior Officer.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ali Al Hitmi, Secretary-General of the Qatar School Sport Association (QSSA), said: “We’re very proud of all the individuals who were honoured today, because their commitment to the programme and their year-long support ensured our success. Support is an imperative component to the success of organisations, because it helps them realise their goals. In turn, the success of the local organisations advances the country forward. We’re positive that the TID programme’s efforts will yield positive results in the future. Next year’s collaboration will be even stronger, as Aspire Academy moves toward implementing a new strategy to scout young talents.”

Since its launch in 2004, the TID programme has screened more than 38,000 students from Qatar’s primary schools whose students were assessed via statistical data that measure physical performance, predictive models and feedback from coaches.

Aspire Academy’s football programme is widely recognised as one of the strongest in the world in terms of identifying, evaluating and nurturing talent, as well as training players and giving them scope and opportunities to compete.

The Academy’s training philosophy is tailored to the capabilities, talents and goals of Qatar as a footballing nation and it follows a strategy that is geared towards the development of individual players.
