Bringing his unique brand of humour to the stage, British musician and comedian Rainer Hersch is back in Doha to tickle the funny bone while he leads the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert touted to be yet another “unforgettable evening of laughter and great music.”

“Comedy Meets the Symphony Orchestra,” to play tomorrow at Abdul Aziz Nasser Theatre at Souq Waqif, is expected to be a show with unexpected twists and turns as the comic maestro whips through hilarious arrangements of seemingly familiar tunes.

Hersch has already brought his award-winning standup comedy far and wide having performed on every major comedy stage in Britain and abroad. He has appeared 13 times at the Edinburgh Festival, had numerous comedy-concert series at the South Bank in London, and featured in comedy clubs all across Europe and in TV shows around the world.

In Doha, Hersch has already previously featured in a number of shows both as a comedian and a musician. In September 2018, he was on the same stage as conductor of the “Music of Frank Sinatra” concert featuring acclaimed British actor and singer Richard Shelton. The sold-out concert which was also held at Abdul Aziz Nasser Theatre in Souq Waqif was a treat for the fans of the music of the legendary “Ol’ Blue Eyes.”

Hersch’s fusion of brilliant humor and performance has been well applauded by varied audiences, and his videos have been viewed by more than 40 million YouTube fans. He continues to do solo shows, making TV and radio programmes, and conducting and cooking-up comedy routines for orchestras.

“Comedy Meets the Symphony Orchestra” starts at 7pm tomorrow and tickets with prince ranging from QR150 to QR500 can be purchased via Qatar Philharmonic’s website.

Following tomorrow’s show, Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra will feature in a concert which will see them perform Johannes Brahms’s Concerto No. 2 and Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 6. This next concert will be held at Katara Opera House on February 22 featuring Marcus Bosch as conductor and Gerhard Oppitz on piano.
