DOHA: Al Meera, one of Qatar’s leading consumer goods company, is to open up to 10 branches by this year-end, according to its revised expansion plan.
The company had earlier announced construction of seven stores in Rawdat Ekdeem, Al Azizia, Zakhira, Al Wajba, Muaither, Al Wakrah, and Al Thumama to fulfil the needs of residents wherever they are.
It signed yesterday an agreement with Shannon Engineering for construction of two stores in Al Muraikh and Jeryan Nejaima.
The deal is part of Al Meera’s expansion plan to reach all areas of the country. It was signed by Al Meera CEO Guy Sauvage and Shannon Engineering Company General Manager Hany Abdel Fattah. Shannon Engineering will build two stores in Al Muraikh and Jeryan Nejaima (each admeasuring 5,526sqm), which are expected to open to the public within nine months of construction.
Sauvage and his deputy, Dr Mohammed Al Qahtani, expressed pleasure over signing the agreement with Shannon Engineering, a leading company in the field of construction.
Al Meera officials said the company’s strategy focuses on having the ‘Favourite Neighbourhood Retailer’ slogan well translated. “The decision to build two more branches aligns with our expansion policy to make everyone close to Al Meera stores in every corner of Qatar,” Sauvage said.
“Al Meera is not only building state-of-the-art stores, but also rehabilitating its old branches and maintaining them to fully transfer to the new innovative concept to promote new standards of a comfortable shopping experience at all its branches in the country.”
According to Sauvage, the new branches will be contemporary buildings following the design of other branches recently opened, and the concept of malls that includes the supermarket, many shopping outlets and restaurants providing diverse customers with their daily needs.
Fattah said construction of the two stores is a testament to Al Meera’s commitment to help the country develop into a world-class shopping hub. “We are glad to be part of this cooperation. We will do our best to build the two branches within nine months by dedicating all our efforts.”
