Qatar participates in migration forum

Doha: The State of Qatar participated in the Global Forum on Migration and Development held in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka on December 10-12.
Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs H E Dr Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi led the Qatari delegation, which consisted of representatives from the ministries of foreign affairs, interior, and development planning and statistics.
The forum discussed the cooperation for safe and legal migration in addition to supporting procedures for fair overseas employment and insuring decent work environment.
In his speech Dr Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi said that the State of Qatar would continue to join efforts with the international community to face the common challenges and realise the goals of sustainable development, taking into account the specialities of each country. He stressed Qatar's effective participation in the international debate about introducing new ideas and solutions to address the challenges of migration governance.
The Minister also met with Bangladesh Minister of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Islam.
During the meeting, they agreed on developing a mechanism for cooperation between recruitment agencies in the two countries to reduce the cost and ensure hiring trained and certified domestic workers.
A number of ministers and officials participating in the forum visited Qatar's pavilion in the exhibition which was organized on the sideline of the forum. The pavilion's guests praised Qatar's efforts and measure for the protection of the expatriate workers.
