Qatar Chamber, Guyana trade mission discuss investment opportunities

Doha: A trade mission from the Republic of Guyana held a meeting yesterday with the representatives of local businesses, including the senior officials of Qatar Chamber (QC). During the meeting both sides discussed and explored the promising investment opportunities in the South American nation. 

Qatar Chamber’s First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Towar Al Kuwari welcomed the Minister of State and Presidential Envoy of the Republic of Guyana H E  George Hallaq and the accompanying delegation at the Chamber’s headquarter.

The meeting also touched on informing the Qatari private sector on the available cooperation opportunities in Guyana as well as products than can be exported to Qatar.

Al Kuwari said that Qatar Chamber is ready and open to strengthening cooperation between both the countries in all fields, particularly in economic and commercial aspects, adding: “This meeting a start for new phase for cooperation between both sides, especially in light of the interest of Qatari businessmen to explore the investment opportunities abroad in line with the State’s economic diversification strategy,”

For his part,  Hallaq pointed out that Guyana offers a plenty of investment opportunities in a variety of sectors such as infrastructure, energy, tourism, and industry, among others.

The Minister called on Qatari businessmen and investors to explore these opportunities and participate in implementing projects. 

Hallaq also noted that these is an attention to enhance economic and trading ties with Qatar, affirming that the visit aims to help Qatari business community learn about investment incentives and galore opportunities in Guyana.

Both parties assured the need to cement cooperation between chambers of both countries in a manner that brings together the private sector and companies of both sides and to identify opportunities for cooperation in all areas.
