The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) announced, through a notice posted on its Twitter account, the beginning of the season that prohibits the fishing of King Fish, from August 15 to October 15.
The Ministry said the move is aimed at protecting the stocks of King Fish at Qatari water and preserving the country’s marine wealth.  According to the notice, the Ministry allows fishing of King Fish only by using hooks and hand line.
The Ministry also said that fishers are not allowed to use nets and also prohibited the handling and transporting of King Fish nets.
The Fisheries Department would enforce the ban.  The Ministry announces this two-moth ban every year at this period.
