There must be a decisive resolution to put an end to all the atrocities and bloodshed that have afflicted our brothers in Syria, which is undergoing the worst human tragedy in modern history. Mercenaries and terrorists are rushing like mad dogs at the Syrian people.
It is time to pay back Russia two-fold as it obscenely stands by the Syrian regime without any mercy or pity for Syrians suffering inhuman horrors.
All Arab countries should make a courageous decision, regardless of economic interests, to stand by the Syrian people, who are in the throes of war that has turned into a Sunni-Shia conflict as Sheikh Yusuf Al Qaradawi put it.
“The war (in Syria) is being waged deliberately against Sunnis,” Al Qaradawi said.
He also said: “The leader of the devil’s party (Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah) is fighting Sunnis. Now the leader of idols is killing Sunni Muslims. Now we know for sure what Iranians want. They want bloodshed by killing Sunni Muslims.”
Moreover, Al Qaradawi admitted he had made a mistake when he advocated Nasrallah, the terrorist, in the past. “I stood against Saudi sheikhs, defending him. But it seems they were more mature than I was,” he said, calling on all Muslims trained to fight to join the rebels in Syria.
“Iran is sending arms and men, so why do we stand with our hands tied,” the sheikh wondered.
Therefore, a courageous decision would reflect a strong will to stand by the oppressed Syrian people and challenge Russia’s wrongful participation in massacring innocent humans while the whole world watches.
The Arab League should unanimously demand that all member countries withdraw their ambassadors from Russia. Saudi prince Talal bin Abdel Aziz proposed such a move a few days ago. A decision like that would be the right move to stir stagnant waters in the Arab-Russian relations instead of absolute silence with its bad consequences for Arab public opinion.
