Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) has launched a competition — " Quit it.. Don’t Quit Them" which aims to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco and emphasises the importance of fighting it and stopping it, as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle to prevent the disease.
The competition is part of the World No Tobacco Day (WNTD), which falls on May 31, and targets three categories: school students, university students and state institutions.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony held on May 18 at the Sheraton Doha and will receive financial and commemorative prizes.
Topics of the competition are summarised in Harmful effects of tobacco, Combat smoking and tobacco, Quitting smoking, Smoke-free society at the individual level, Smoke-free society at the community level, Dangers of passive smoking.
Rules of Competition have been thus summarised — Have a creative idea, provide one form from participating school, must not have any legal violation or abuse to any person, the idea should not be used previously, the idea should be clear and understandable to the different group of the society.
Winners of the schools' competition will win QR5,000 (first place), QR3,000 (second place), QR2,000 (third place), and QR1,500 for fourth and fifth place. Those ranking 6th to 10th will win QR1,000 each.
Those winning from universities will win QR15,000 (first place), QR10,000 (second place) and QR5,000 (third place).
