BCI Forum holds first meet of this year

The Qatar Business Continuity Institute (BCI) Forum conducted its first Forum meet for 2017 on the Theme “National Resiliency”. Several professionals from key sectors like banking, oil and gas, educational institutions, energy sector, healthcare, telecommunications, Business Continuity Management (BCM) & Information Technology Disaster Recovery (ITDR) Service providers participated in this event.
This forum was started to bring together BCM professionals across the country and to share the knowledge and good practices in Business Continuity domain. BCI Qatar forum has more than 200 Business Continuity Professionals across diversified industry segments. This Forum strives to help understand the potentials of Business Continuity in this region and contribute the cumulative knowledge and experience to the resiliency challenges, emerging issues and threats of this region. It also facilitates the knowledge experts to come together to develop, enhance and share various Business continuity programs which can be instrumental for individual companies to optimise their organisation resiliency and drive through the leadership in Business Continuity.
Welcoming the Forum members, Eng. Abdullatif Ali Al Yafei (pictured), Chairperson of the BCI Qatar Forum Organising Committee, stressed on the remarkable achievements of the Forum which included hosting the 2015 BCI Middle East conference 2015 in Doha and development of the Qatar BCM Guidelines which was launched during 2015. He also mentioned about the upcoming events which include the BCI ME Awards Night in September 2017 and the BCI Middle East Conference in 2018.
There was a special welcome message from David Thorpe, Executive Director of BCI, UK who welcomed the members in his video address and was supportive of the BCI Qatar Forum’s activities. The Forum Members heard an interesting and informative presentation by PMO Director of the National Security and Resilience Programme (Somod Resilience Centre SRC).
Abdus Salam, Head of BCM at Qatar Islamic Bank and member of the BCI Qatar Forum Organizing Committee concluded the event requesting the members to support the upcoming events of the Qatar BCI Forum. It was also agreed that BCI Qatar Forum will organise three more forums during 2017; one by mid of May and the remaining two will be in September and November.
