Doha: Galfar Toastmasters Club (GTM), in association with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Blood Bank, recently held a blood donation campaign at the HMC blood donor unit. GTM is the Corporate Toastmasters Club of Galfar Al Misnad, a leading engineering and construction company in Qatar.
The main objective of the event was to promote the act of extending an arm to donate precious blood, among its members and the public. The blood donation was spaced over four hours to allow COVID protocols to be strictly maintained during the process.
The senior management of Galfar Al Misnad led the way in coming forward to donate their blood, serving as an inspiration to the rest of the employees. There was a great turnout, with a large number contributing their blood to the HMC Blood Bank. Galfar Al Misnad has been consistently recognized and appreciated by HMC for the company’s humanitarian role in regularly organising blood donation drives.
“It was amazing to see our colleagues voluntarily came to participate in this event and donate blood for the noble cause. This motivates us to initiate such programs and help those who are struggling to save lives of their loved ones,” said Subramanya Hebbagelu, GTM President.
GTM has been an active participant in social welfare activities in Qatar since 2012. Other activities conducted include beach cleaning, tree planting, Earth hour observance, youth leadership programmes and activities for families.
