Qatar Olympic Committee President H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani

HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani was yesterday elected President of Qatar Olympic Committee in its new term 2017-2020, with Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari elected as Secretary-General.
The election took place in the General Assembly that was held at the committee's headquarters. H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani presided over the assembly. The Secretary-General and heads of the Olympic committees attended as well. They discussed the committee's schedule for 2017, the new formation of different sports associations, as well as the committee's progress in terms qualification for the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
The new formations of the sports federations came as follows: H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani heads the Qatar Air Sports Committee, H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Saoud as head of the special needs sports committee, H E Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani as President of Qatar Football Association, Nasser Ghanem Al Khulaifi as President of the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) and Squash, Dr Thani Abdulrahman Al Kuwari as president of Qatar Athletics Federation, Rabea Mohammed Al Kaabi as head of the Qatar School Sport Association, President of the Qatar Fencing Federation and Weight Lifting, Khalil Ahmed Al Mohanadi as President of Qatar Table Tennis Association, Ahmed Mohammed Al Shaabi as president of Qatar Handball Association, Khalid bin Hamad Al Attiyah as head of the Taekwondo and Judo Federation, Hassan Nasser Al Nuaimi as head of the Golf Association, Khalil Ibrahim Al Jaber as Qatar Swimming Association. Abdulsalam Abbas Hassan as head of Qatar Bowling Association, Yousuf Ali Kazim as President of Qatar Boxing Federation, Khalifa Mohammed Al Hitmi as president of Qatar Chess Association, Ali Ahmed Al Hitmi as President of Qatar Gymnastics Federation, Ali Ghanem Al Kuwari head of Qatar Volleyball Association, Youssef Jaham Al Kuwari the Rugby, Hockey and Cricket Federations, Hamad bin Abdulrahman Al Attiyah as president of Qatar Equestrian Federation, Dr Mohammed Jaham Al Kuwari as head of the triathlon and cycling federation and Lolwa Hussein Al Marri as head of the Women's Sports Committee.
At the conclusion of the assembly, H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani thanked all previous officials for their efforts and achievement. His Excellency then called on the new committee to put more effort to support the Olympic movement in Qatar.
