“I have always been inspired by balanced, harmonious, beautiful design.  Throughout my life so far and during my extensive travels around the world, I have been drawn to it wherever it occurs-in nature, architects, art, fashion and interiors.  Beautiful design, naturally occurring or when given a helping hand, elevates human existence and transforms lives. In my own small way, I try to encapsulate this essential truth in all of the projects I undertake”, says Katharine.

Katharine Pooley, world-renowned British interior designer was in Doha for the signing ceremony of her latest book “Journey By Design”. Just Real Estate, the leading property service provider in Qatar,  hosted her for the special signing ceremony.

As the title suggests, Katharine’s new book takes a look at her incredible journey into her interior-design work. The 264-page book features 19 of her projects, taking you from London to Doha’s West Bay.

On the genesis of her  stunning West Bay Luxury Villa Project in Doha,  Katharine says: “The client reached us through our project at the VIP suites in Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5. I enjoyed designing a masculine living area, especially for the client, along with a feminine majlis for his wife, inspired by Moroccan design. It’s a vibrant blend of cultures and traditions realized in the finest materials, and precisely tailored to the needs and desires of the client and his family.”

Katharine’s designs are utterly beautiful, timeless and of exemplary quality, that shine.  Each one showcases the very finest craftsmanship from the UK and abroad and all draw on the myriad  of multicultural influences Katharine has absorbed during her extensive travels-the similarities end there, says Jennifer Goulding while introducing Katharine’s exquisite works.

The most important  aspect of a Katharine Pooly project  is its individuality.  She has no signature style, because her designs are not about her but about the client. Her great skill is in listening to the individual, understanding the brief and delivering her vision. She is that rare individual who has heard the words: “You have made my dreams come true”.

Katharine, a former banker, is renowned for the blend of luxury and refinement in her designs and for adopting influences and customs gathered from her journeys around the world in her creations – she has so far visited more than 196 cities around the world.

The famed designer, has crafted luxurious interiors for a vast range of premium properties from a castle in the Scottish Highlands, to a contemporary beach villa in the GCC, an apartment in the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong and the golden-red interiors of a private residence in Doha. Her expert attention shines in every setting.

“Katharine Pooley is a globally-renowned name in the world of interior designer and it was a privilege to have someone of Katharine’s statue for such an enchanting evening. She has travelled extensively and has great stories to tell that so often are reflected in her designs,” said Just Real Estate Chairman, Engineer Nasser Al-Ansari.

In a single year, Katherine Pooley’s company will work on between twenty-five and forty commissions across the globe, ranging from 300 to 100,000 square metres.

Notes Janet Jackson in her foreword to “Journey By Design’: As a designer, Katharine’s every choice is informed by her  impeccable taste and unique style. yet its her feel for form that moves me most. Her vision is never superficial; it’s deeply emotional.  Virtually everything Katharine collects and creates has soul. I love the items featured in boutique... just as I love her larger proejcts: the residence she has decorated in Hyde Park, London, the 16th century castle in Scotland and the monumental hotel complex in Shaoxing, China  She merges simplicity and sophistication..”
