DOHA: The Supreme Education Council (SEC) yesterday announced plans to develop a mechanism to evaluate the performance of all kindergartens in the country.
“The School Evaluation Office (at the SEC) made a comprehensive standard and framework to evaluate private and Independent kindergartens,” Amina Al Obaidli, Head of the office, told a press conference.
The project aims to ensure quality of educational outputs and provide an accurate and reliable data to develop an action plan to help kindergartens improve performance.
It also seeks to provide a report to decisionmakers, parents and the local community on what type of education their children are receiving at these facilities.
The project has been implemented in phases. In the third phase, two kindergartens (one Independent and one private) have been selected for experiment. Their officials have been trained in self-evaluation. The fourth phase is about correcting the system based on the results of experiment. In the fifth and final phase, the new mechanism will be implemented.
There are basically six points for evaluation: Development of children; quality of education; protection and care of children; partnership with parents and community; human resources; and educational leadership, said Al Obaidli.
