QE market capitalisation falls to QR466.07bn

Doha: Qatar Exchange’s main index gained a marginal 0.26 points last week when the bourse closed at 8,478.61 points yesterday.

Trading value increased by 1.39 percent to reach QR953.4m compared to QR940.2m the previous week. Trading volume decreased by 9.28 percent to reach 26.7 million shares last week, as against 29.4 million shares, while the number of transactions fell by 0.92 percent to reach 15,864 as compared to 16,012 transactions the previous week.

The market capitalisation fell by 0.04 percent to reach QR466.07bn  last week as compared to QR466.24bn at the end of previous week.

Of the 42 listed companies, 22 ended higher last week while 19 fell and one remained unchanged. Islamic Group led the trading value last week with 11.71 percent of the total  followed by Qatar Meat and Livestock Trading Company (9.14 percent) and Qatar National Bank (8.09 percent).

The banking and the financial services sector led trading value last week , accounting for 43.92 percent of the total followed by the consumer goods and services sector (21.65 percent), the industrial sector (10.87 percent) and the transportation sector (9.27 percent).

The banking and the financial services sector led trading volume last week, accounting for 43.98 percent of the total, followed by the consumer goods and services sector (19.52 percent), the real estate sector (12.56 percent) and the transportation sector (9.79 percent).

The banking and financial services sector led trading number of transactions last week , accounting for 40.19 percent of the total followed by the consumer goods and services sector (22.43 percent), the Industrial sector (11.37 percent) and the real estate sector (9.68 percent).

For the day, Qatar Exchange was 0.06 points or to 8,478.61 points from the previous closing of  8,478.67. Among the top losers were International Islamic whose share dropped 0.38 percent to QR52, Qatar Insurance lost 3.43 percent to QR67.50, Masraf Al Rayan fell 0.37 percent to QR26.85 and Doha Bank was down 0.55 percent to QR54.10. The banking and financial services sector lost 0.48 points, the insurance sector dropped 36.08 points, the industrial sector added 17.14 points and the services sector was down 0.48 points.
