Doha Revolt Stars team poses after winning the CRIC QATAR’s Eid cup.
The Doha Revolt Stars team won the CRIC QATAR’s Eid cup beating other 15 teams. The event, organised by the HIQ group is in celebration of the Eid Al Adha, wherein different expatriates participated, including players from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.
“This is the 16th tournament and it is aimed to provide opportunities to the expatriate youths of Qatar to show their skills and dominance, and to prove their mettle with bat and ball,” said Syed Rafi the CRIC Qatar Chairman. The tournament ran for two days.
The final match was played between Doha Revolt Stars and Asian XI team and batting first Doha Revolt Stars scored 93/7 in stipulated 8 overs and chasing the target, Asian XI team were able to score 90/5 in 8 overs. Shammad of Doha Revolt Stars was declared man of the match for scoring 31 runs in 16 balls with 2 boundaries and 3 sixes and also claimed 3 wickets in his 2 over spell. From Asian XI, the top scorer was Lasantha Fernando with 44 runs in 20 balls with 6 sixes and 1 boundary and he also claimed 2 wickets in his bowling spell.
Syed Rafi thanked his committee members, Mohd Irfan, Mohd Atif, Tanwir, Syed Tausif, Ayub, Mohd Farhan, Umair for their immense support towards organising the tournament within just six days’ time on a successful note. He, moreover, extended his gratitude to the teams for their trust and confidence in CRIC QATAR and assured them of much better matches in future ahead.
The 16 teams which participated in the cricket tournament were QBC Rangers, HIQ Cricket Club, Abunakhla CC, United Lanka, MarcQatar, Coastal Kings, Highway Boys CC, Asian XI, Doha Revolt Stars, New Bharat CC, DPS Challengers, Rising Stars CC, Black Tech Boys, Al Meer CC, Massive CC and Aando Team.
