Doha: Qatar Fuel (Woqod) has sponsored a group of Qatari ladies who have come together to launch ‘Gratitude For Gas Station Attendants’ campaign to show appreciation to employees at petrol stations across Qatar during Ramadan.
The campaign encourages the public to distribute gifts bags with basic necessities to employees.
The initiative was launched by Shefa Ali, an employee at Sidra Medical and Research Centre (Sidra), and Qatari ladies.
Initially it targeted petrol pump attendants, but since the group of ladies has started distributing gifts bags, every employee they’ve seen has received one.
The bag is given along with a gift card in English and Hindi that says “Dear Brother, Please accept our humble gift in appreciation for all the hard work you do for us and our country, Best Regards from your Qatari family.”
Shefa said” “Employees at petrol stations have one of the hardest jobs in Qatar, standing in the heat all day for a long time. We would like to show them our gratitude for their work and dedication by giving them a small bag of essential items as a gift.”
If you want to take part, fill a reusable bag with a T-shirt,  cap, packaged disposable razor, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, small hand towel, antibacterial soap and shampoo, comb, sun protection lotion and sunglasses and distribute them to employees. If you want to include a greeting card, email Ali on [email protected]
The public is also encouraged to post pictures on Instagram and other social media channels with the hashtag #GratitudeForGas StationAttendents to raise awareness and encourage good deeds.
Woqod is supporting the campaign in addition to its other projects as part of its CSR activities, including Suhoor for its employees, distribution of 4,000 Iftar boxes at petrol stations, Ramadan tents in Al Wakrah and Al Khor,  Garangao distribution at petrol stations and lectures in Woqod Tower.
