DOHA: The Brookings Doha Center held a panel discussion in which top policy experts discussed Yemen’s devastating war, considered to be the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

The panel was moderated by Noha Aboueldahab, a visiting fellow at the Brookings Center Doha.

The speakers included Baraa Shiban, Middle East and North Africa Caseworker at Reprieve; Elo-baid Elobaid, a representative of Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR); and Elisabeth Kendall, senior research fellow in Arabic and Islamic Studies at Pembroke College, Oxford University.

Shiban stated that, “We are in a conflict today not because there are people fighting but because the political transition that was supposed to happen was not implemented. There is no parallel political discussion happening right now that says we have an alternative plan for what is happening.”
