DOHA: The Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) announced that the National and Club Challenge Cup - for boys and girls will commence on Saturday. Individual and team competitions will be held in two different age brackets.
A technical committee meeting was held ahead of the two events.
“The objective of staging two different events for boys and girls is an attempt to promote the sport of gymnastics at the grassroot level,” QGF official Mrs Abeer Al Buaining said.
“When boys and girls compete and watch each other, they want to perform than one another. That creates a healthy competing among the youngsters,” the official said.
The QGF official said the referees committee has already finalised the list of officials for the one-day events.
The organizing committee has also finalized arrangements for the presentation ceremony to be held after the day’s events.
The events will be held at the Khawla Gymnastics Hall.
The championship will be in FIG code for the junior national team, FIG Age program for pre-junior teams and for USAG Program for Club Challenge.
The competition will be held in three phases with the first beginning at 10:30am and followed by the rest of the groups.
