QNA

DOHA: Qatar National Library (QNL), in collaboration with Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press), and the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region, has launched the second workshop of the ‘Books - Made in Qatar’ initiative. The workshop is dedicated to the development of Qatari illustrators and is being organized as part of the official Qatar Germany 2017 Year of Culture programme.
The five-day workshop, taking place until April 13, will give participating illustrators the opportunity to work on sketches and storyboards with one of Germany’s best-known children’s and young adults’ book authors and illustrators, Ute Krause. The illustrators’ work will be based on stories created and developed during the first workshop of the initiative, which involved Qatari writers.
Workshop instructor Ute Krause said: “I’m excited to come back to Doha for the illustrators' workshop, especially after the first workshop, during which I spent a wonderful week working with Qatari authors. The stories that the authors developed during were very impressive and I can almost see the first illustrations that will enhance them.”
