IIA Qatar holds seminar

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Qatar held a knowledge sharing seminar on how Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) adds value to organisations. The presenter Prasanna Varadan is the global head for Risk Management and Compliance at Bahwan Cybertek (BCT). BCT who sponsored the event offers comprehensive Risk & Compliance Management Services that helps companies enhance value, improve business performance, and gain competitive advantage.
“The awareness and visibility of risk is at its peak. “Risk” is the second most searched terminology currently in the world.  During the period from 1998 to 2011 the gap between risk management and information technology reduced significantly by 1/3rd indicating IT’s proximity and leveraging capability” said Prasanna. 
“Internal Audit forms a critical line of defense in Risk Management. Internal audit is perceived as key function to implement ERM with activity planning and execution. Further audit provides assurance on the effectiveness of the processes for risk management as well as how key risks are being managed. The clarity and comprehensive viewpoints on the roles of internal auditor in consulting, supporting and auditing ERM process was the highpoint of the event,” said Sundaresan Rajeswar, IIA Qatar board member who with Shanthi Chandrasekher of BCT Singapore coordinated the event.
