Doha: Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) organised a workshop on the technical specifications of washing machines and refrigerators for suppliers of electrical appliances at Kahramaa Awareness Park.

The workshop aimed to introduce draft Gulf technical specification for washing machines and refrigerators.

It also focused on the importance of the technical regulations for low-voltage electrical devices and equipment, which clarifies the basic requirements for low-voltage electrical devices and equipment produced locally, or devices and equipment imported from abroad.

This is to ensure energy efficiency and rationalization, and to ensure the safety and security.

In this context, Conservation Technology Section of the Department of Conservation and Energy Efficiency provided a comprehensive explanation about the specifications and the importance of adhering to them.

This is in line with the strategic direction of Kahramaa to accelerate environmental and social change, and intensify efforts to preserve the environment and achieve sustainability, in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030.

With the conclusion of the workshop, Kahramaa’s specialised team responded to the suppliers’ questions and inquiries regarding the issues raised during the explanation, and channels of communication were opened with them, to provide the necessary assistance and support.

The Department of Conservation and Energy Efficiency of Kahramaa is responsible for conducting technical studies related to electrical and water equipment with the aim of developing new specifications for them. This is in a way that contributes to improving the efficiency of using available water and electrical resources, in coordination with the concerned administrative units, following Amiri Decision issued in 2014 and the amended version of it, released in 2018.
