Sheikha Al Jufairi meets residents to solve their woes

Doha: Sheikha bint Yousuf Hasan Al Jufairi (pictured), a member of Central Municipal Council (CMC) and Head of the Legal Committee of the Council, has held a meeting with the women of her constituency at her home to interact with them.

Many female residents attended the meeting in which they made the proposals related to providing services to their respective localities. Jufairi assured the visiting women to raise their concerns to the authorities concerned and follow up the issues personally.

“Despite blockade on our country since June 5, 2017,  Qatar is going ahead on the path of development, the projects continue to provide the services without any delay thanks to the wise leadership and government,” said Al Jufairi.

“I hosted female voters to listen their proposals and discussed with them the issues regarding the services at my constituency No. 8,” she added. She said that the meeting aims to strengthen relations with voters and take their opinions about the issues of the constituency.

“I used to interact with my voters in various ways including visiting their homes on their requests, taking their proposals regarding the services personally,” said Al Jufairi.

I am also in touch with my voters through social networking sites, mobile phones, land line phone and fax, said Al Jufairi adding that a working team is also visiting the homes of voters to provide first hand information to her.

She said that the constituency No. 8 is very important and is interconnected with various areas of the country. The constituency has a number of key public facilities like Hamad International Airport (HIA), Doha International Port (DIP). Constituency No. 8 is densely populated and stretching in one third area of Greater Doha.

I did not leave any stone unturned to solve the problems of my voters, said Al Jufairi adding that she conducted many meetings with ministers, directors and head of the sections at all government institutions working for providing services.

I received full cooperation from the authorities concerned and many times the officials visited with me to the areas having problems and lack of services like road and others, she said.

We together solved many problems related to the services and continue to solve remaining problems, said Al Jufairi.

Most of the demands from my constituency were related to providing lighting in internal roads, asphalting them and putting interlocks on unpaved road. 

Other demands include making commercial street at Nuaija east area No. 44, establishing centers for girls, building family public parks and renovating the existing public parks, building new mosques and renovating the existing one and adding home for Imams and finding out separate places for the physical exercise of women. 

Building kindergartens and schools and bring about quick solutions to reduce the road traffic in the constituency were among top demands, she added.

Since 2015 till now, Sheikha bint Yousuf Hasan Al Jufairi said that she has made remarkable achievements in meeting the demands of her voters.

She said that latest street lighting system was installed at most areas of her constituency. And work is continue to provide street lighting in remaining areas like Umm Ghuwailina, new Doha and old Salata.

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has approved to provide lighting on all streets in old airport area (45) and Nuaija east (44) and replaced the existing lighting with latest one. A study is being conducted to replace the yellow lighting with white one at two areas 41 and 42 in Al Hilal.

Al Jufairi said that her demands for providing services were fulfilled as many internal roads were built with complete infrastructure and works are continue to build similar roads in other areas. 

A joint proposal was made by the CMC members of the constituencies No. 7, 9, 10, 11, 13, 21 and 22 to build wedding halls like those available in Al Refa, Al Zain, Al Khor and Al Wakra to serve the community, said Al Jufairi.

She said that coordination is being maintained with authorities concerned at the Urban Development Department to build the marriage hall. She said that the authority has approved her request to make Rawdat Al Khail street commercial at Naija 44 east.

A proposal was also made by CMC to increase the heights of the building on Uqba bin Naif street at Old Airport area No. 45. The proposal was sent to the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and the issue is under study.

She said that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education helped built many schools and kindergartens at her constituency upon her request.

Regarding the issue of building creches at work organisations for convenience of working women, Al Jufairi said that she met personally with many officials including the Minister of Education and Higher Education and the proposal is under study.

The Ministry of Culture and Sports has approved to build Al Dana Center for Girls in Nuaija (44) east on her request,  she said adding that that the management of Al Ahli Sport Club has agreed to open the facility for women enabling them to do sport activities with privacy. She said that park on Talah bin Al Bara road will be renovated by the Public Parks Department.

To reduce road traffic at Old Airport area, Al Jufairi said that CMC has sent recommendations to the authorities concerned; Urban Planning, Traffic Department and Ministry of Transport and Communications to tackle the problem.

The proposal includes revision of the existing car wash centers along commercial street of old airport that caused traffic jams.

A feasible study is being conducted by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce to make commercial street of Old Airport one way to de-congest the area.
