Qatargas sponsors Qatar Total Open

DOHA: Qatargas has announced its sponsorship of the Qatar Total Open 2013, organised by the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF). The tournament which started yesterday  will run until Sunday at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex.

The sponsorship is part of the Qatargas’ corporate social responsibility programme that provides support for various sport and cultural activities in the country. 

On the company’s support to the event, Ghanim Al Kuwari, Chief Operating Officer, Administration, Qatargas, said: “Promoting and supporting local sport activities is one of the major elements of Qatargas’ corporate social responsibility programme.

“We are glad to be part of such a prestigious championship.

“Qatargas has partnered with QTF during many major events over the past years and we are very proud to have been associated with the QTF in raising popularity of the game in the country.”

Commenting on the sponsorship, Nasser Ghanim Al Khelaifi, President, Qatar Tennis Federation, said: “Qatargas has been supporting QTF events for many years and we are thankful to its management for this fruitful cooperation. 

“Our partnership with Qatargas and other corporate entities will contribute to promoting tennis in Qatar and turning the country into a major sports destination.”

First held in 2001, the Qatar Ladies Open was the first professional women’s tennis tournament  in the Middle East and today it is a WTA Premier 5 event, bringing with it the greatest names in the sport.
